Freya Hoekstra was born in The Hague, The Netherlands on the 28th of April 1934 (†3rd July 2000 in Victoria British Columbia, Canada). Where she attended De Vrije school (The Waldorf School) in The Hague, The Netherlands. She came to Canada in the early fifties where she taught art to the indigenous people. Her creativity started early in life being also an accomplished potter. Her drawings and pottery continue to bring much pleasure. Freya was an artist, in the true sense of the word. The origin of the name FreyaIn Norse mythology, Freya is the goddess of love and fertility. She is the patron goddess of crops and birth and was called upon in matters of love and counseling.

Wim Blom was born in Germiston, South Africa on the 22nd of February 1927. (†18th January 2021 on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada)Wim received his Fine Arts MA degrees from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and did post-graduate work at the University of Edinburg, Scotland and at the University of Perugia, Italy. Wim Blom taught at the University of the Witwatersrand and at the Johannesburg School of Art. Trained as an art historian he held the post of Research Curator at the National Gallery of Canada and subsequently that of Curatorial Administrator.
